What is Screenshot?

A screenshot, also known as a screen capture, is an image that shows the current contents of a computer screen. This can include anything that is visible on the screen, such as open windows, desktop icons, and the contents of an open web page. Screenshots are commonly used to capture information or images from a computer screen for a variety of purposes, such as troubleshooting technical issues, creating tutorials, or capturing an image of something interesting or amusing that was found online. Screenshots can be taken on a variety of devices such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

How To Take Screenshot In Laptop

There are several ways of how to take screenshot in laptop. Let’s discuss 20 of them here.

  1. Using the Print Screen (PrtSc) key: Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to capture the entire screen. The image will be saved to the clipboard, which you can then paste into an image editing program such as Paint or Photoshop.
  2. Using the Windows + Print Screen key: Pressing the Windows key and the Print Screen key at the same time will automatically save a screenshot of your entire screen to the “Screenshots” folder in your Pictures library.
  3. Using the Snipping Tool:
  • Open the Snipping Tool by searching for it in the Start menu or by typing “snipping tool” in the search bar.
  • Click on the “New” button to start the snipping process
  • You will have four options for snipping: free-form, rectangular, window, and full-screen. Select the one that you want to use.
  • Use your mouse to select the area of screen you want to capture
  • Once you’ve selected the area, the screenshot will open in the Snipping Tool
  • Save the screenshot by clicking on the “File” button, then “Save As”.
  1. Using the Windows + Shift + S key:
  • Press Windows + Shift + S key
  • Your screen will dim, and you’ll see a cursor that you can use to select the area of the screen you want to capture
  • Once you have selected the area, the screenshot will be copied to your clipboard
  • Open an image editing software and paste the screenshot

  • Download and install a third-party software like Lightshot, Nimbus Screenshot, etc.
  • Once you have the software installed, open it
  • There will be an option to take a screenshot, you can take it by clicking on the option or using the shortcut key provided by the software
  • You can edit the screenshot and save it.
  1. Using the built-in Game Bar in Windows 10:
  • Press Windows + G key to open the game bar
  • Click on the camera icon to capture the screenshot
  • The screenshot will be saved in the “Videos” folder in your “Pictures” library.
  1. Using keyboard shortcuts specific to your laptop:
  • Check the manual of your laptop to find the specific key combination for taking a screenshot
  • Once you have the key combination press it to take the screenshot
  • The screenshot will be saved to the clipboard, which you can then paste into an image editing program such as Paint or Photoshop.

  • Open the webpage you want to capture
  • Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the browser
  • Select “More tools” and then “Take screenshot”
  • You can select the area of the webpage you want to capture
  • The screenshot will be saved to your computer
  1. Using your touchpad:
  • Use three fingers press on the touchpad
  • The screenshot will be saved to the clipboard, which you can then paste into an image editing program such as Paint or Photoshop.

  • Hover the stylus or digital pen over the screen
  • Press the button on the stylus or digital pen
